Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe, 1866, Claude Monet
I've been exploring picnics lately.
In Impressionist paintings, a lady's skirt always merges into the snow-white picnic cloth, forming a quiet island on the grass.
Women of the Tang Dynasty, however, would unfasten their skirts and drape them on poles to create a semi-private canopy in the wild.
The skirt is the ground to you, but the wall to me.
