There is a common architectural space "mountain house" in the traditional garden, which always has a romantic sense of seclusion. I have visited Buqiu Mountain House in Huanxiu Shanzhuang Garden  in Suzhou, Hanbi Mountain House in the Liuyuan Garden, and Yuyin Shanfang Garden in Guangzhou. The location, scenery and arrival path of the mountain house are always unique. Master Shen Zhen of the Ming Dynasty has a paint of "Bamboo Furnace Mountain House" that can almost summarize my spatial and psychological feelings about the mountain house: old trees and branches, bamboo leaves surrounding the house, two people drinking tea and chatting in the hall, and children walking cautiously along the shore. The project is located in a large residential area on the outskirt of Beijing. It is the top floor of a multi-storey residential building near the edge of the community. The owner likes to plant flowers on the roof balcony and wants to do something more interesting here.

Because the building was built without an insulation layer outside the bedroom's indoor balcony, it is not suitable for long stays in winter or summer. We simply released this less than 10 square meters of space as a semi-outdoor space, which is self-contained. There is a hidden bridge connecting it to the small garden, and the owner can reach it by climbing up and down several steps in the small garden. At the same time, we use the same construction language to set up a lookout ladder in the small garden, which makes it convenient to care for plants and adds a little romantic interest.
